Lyceum of the Philippines University established in the year of July 7, 1952. It is a private university located in Manila City. The university prides itself on its long and rich tradition of quality academic excellence through the legacy of its founder, Dr. Jose P. Laurel. The one and only Philippine President to have worked in all three main branches of government, Dr. Laurel was a successful lawyer, legislator, lecturer, constitutionalist, jurist, writer, scholar, statesman, philosopher, and educator. Dr. Laurel’s worried about education, it was his most abiding passion. A graduate of top colleges such as the University of the Philippines College of Law, Escuela de Derecho, University of Santo Tomas and Yale University, he put unassailable credentials as an educator. In the time of the Second World War, he as the leader of the country during the darkest period in its history, he introduced new educational policies that emphasized character and upheld national morale. The inspiration given to establish a medical school came to him in the early 1920s while a student at Yale. After, three decades along with his close friends, he turned this dream into reality.
